Project Sunshine is a charity that focuses on the needs of hospitalized children by providing them with play materials. They help transform hospitals into kid-friendly places in 175 cities in the United States, Canada, China, Israel, and Kenya. They are running a $5 Challenge to send a one-time use activity kit to a child in a hospital. Details are here, complete with social media instructions.
Let’s make this easy. If you’re viewing this on your cell phone, you can give $5.00 (or more, of course) to a charity through the Mobile Giving Foundation. Click here to see a current list of charities that take donations this way.
The GAVI Campaign does live-saving work by immunizing children in the 72 poorest countries. Your $5.00 will provide one life-saving vaccine for a child. (I won’t fault you if you want to spend more, but after all this is the $5.00 category.) 2022 Update: I think vaccines are more expensive now, but this is such a cool organization that I’m leaving it here. Also, if you want to give $5 there IS that option.
